4 Easy Last-Minute T-Shirt Halloween Costumes (+ Free Templates!)
You know when it’s a couple days before Halloween and you don’t have a single thing planned to wear? I have a stockpile of old costumes tucked away, but sometimes I just want something really easy to throw on with a pair of jeans. In case you just need an easy last-minute Halloween costume, I made FOUR templates for making these easy last-minute t-shirt Halloween costumes! Yes, all four are costumes that require just a t-shirt (kind of like last year’s ice cream t-shirt)! My personal favorite is the pizza tee, closely followed by the magic 8 ball tee. If you use a cutting machine, you can upload the below files to the design center to quickly cut out the iron-on vinyl and adhere them to a t-shirt for quick costume!
I understand most people don’t have time to put together a complicated Halloween costume last-minute, and depending on your job, maybe you can’t get away with a complicated costume. That’s when these t-shirt Halloween costumes come in handy! Honestly, I would probably wear these on any given day of the week because that’s just who I am…but you can quickly transform yourself into a magic 8 ball, chill pill, garden or pizza with nothing but vinyl and a t-shirt! Keep scrolling for each Halloween costume template to make your own.
Magic 8 Ball T-Shirt Costume
The magic 8 ball costume is probably the easiest of the four! You could easily make this with or without a cutting machine and iron both layers on vinyl onto a black t-shirt.
Supplies:
- Magic 8 ball SVG template
- Black t-shirt
- White iron-on vinyl
- Black iron-on vinyl
- Iron
Step 1: Cut out the circle shape on white vinyl. Adjust the size as desired for your t-shirt – mine is about 8 inches. Then cut the ‘8’ in a proportional size out of black vinyl.
Step 2: Iron the shirt flat first. Place the white vinyl on the approximate middle. Cover with a towel or pillowcase and iron until adhered.
Step 3: Peel away the plastic backing to reveal the iron-on. Then place the ‘8’ in the middle of the circle and iron in place.
Chill Pill T-Shirt Costume
This chill pill costume requires one additional element – paint. I used a fabric spray paint to color the bottom half of the shirt, but you can use any fabric paint and mix up the colors however you want.
Supplies:
- Chill pill SVG template
- White t-shirt
- Black iron-on vinyl
- Masking tape
- Plastic bag
- Pink fabric spray paint
- Iron
Step 1: Use masking tape and a plastic bag to block off the top half of the t-shirt so that you have a straight line separating the two halves.
Step 2: In a well-ventilated, covered area, spray the bottom half of the t-shirt with fabric paint and let dry completely.
Note, I only painted the front part of the t-shirt.
Step 3: Cut out the chill pill wording from black iron-on vinyl (make sure to mirror the cut!) and adjust to desired size.
Step 4: Place the words perpendicular to the line and iron in place.
Simple Garden T-Shirt Costume
I’d love to pair this really simple garden t-shirt with a flower covered headband to really bring the message across! This t-shirt involves the most intricate steps because there are so many little pieces to the pattern. You will iron pieces on in several layers.
Supplies:
- Flowers SVG template
- Green t-shirt
- Green iron-on vinyl
- Yellow iron-on vinyl
- Pink iron-on vinyl
- Purple iron-on vinyl
- Iron
Step 1: Cut out the various pieces of vinyl, adjusting to desired size. The SVG template will separate the colors for you in the Cricut Design Center.
Step 2: Start by ironing the stems in place in the middle of the shirt, then the flower shapes and leaves, followed by the additional detail pieces.
Pizza T-Shirt Costume
The pizza costume has different pieces for pepperoni, tomatoes, olives, mushrooms and bell peppers. The pepperoni and tomatoes have details added in a light pink vinyl – otherwise you wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between the red circles.
Supplies:
- Pizza toppings SVG template
- Red iron-on vinyl
- Light pink iron-on vinyl
- Black iron-on vinyl
- Green iron-on vinyl
- Tan iron-on vinyl
- Iron
Step 1: Cut out the different pizza toppings in proportionate sizes. The SVG template will separate the colors for you in the Cricut Design Center.
Step 2: Arrange the piece on the front of the shirt so they are well spaced apart, setting aside the pink pieces. Iron in place.
Step 3: Then place the pink detail pieces on top and iron them down to differentiate the tomatoes and pepperoni.
There you have it! Which of these four t-shirt Halloween costumes will you try for your last-minute event?!
