For the first time, we’re having a Halloween party this year! This will be the real test of how many people we can cram into our hobbit-sized apartment. Mostly, I’m excited to have a reason to go all-out with decorations and make some cheezy Halloween foods.
In preparation for what I consider the entire month of Halloween, I brainstormed a few fun Halloween ideas to share with you all and this turned out to be one of my absolute favorites, so I’m excited share it. Even though I’m a total introvert, I really enjoy Halloween parties ay because everyone dresses up and the decorations are fun. To celebrate this year, I decided to come up with a chemical-like cocktail that appears as if you’re a mad scientist drinking your creations because that’s exactly how I feel when I throw together a bunch of random drink mixes in my house. In this case, I came up with what I shall call the green chemical cocktail, a mixture of Midori for color and flavor, a combination of vodka and rum for strength, and some bubbly champaign give it the right appearance and add some texture.
The best part (what what really makes the drink) is how you serve it – pour into glass beakers with a little green sugar on the rim for a perfectly spooky chemical cocktail that will add some flair to any party.
Ingredients (makes 2 large drinks):
- 1 shot Midori
- 1 shot citrus vodka
- 1 shot white rum
- 1 cup champagne (can substitute partial Sprite/7UP)
- Green sugar
- Erlenmeyer flasks or beakers
Note, this drink is quite strong! You can tone it down by substituting some of the champagne for citrus soda.
Mix all ingredients in a pitcher with a pourer. Line the rims of Erlenmeyer flasks or beakers with green sugar (just for fun!) and pour the drink into the prepared glasses. Add a straw, cheers and drink away!
These are some strong drinks, so be careful! I can’t wait to serve this at my Halloween party and see what everyone thinks!
Happy Halloween!

Jessica
do you have measurements for making this in a large batch?
Holly Wade
JessicaHi Jessica! You can just double or triple the ingredients, such as three shots of each liquor and 3 cups sparkling wine.

This is so creative! I love your DIYs so much. Can’t wait to try this! (but a nonalcoholic version because I’m underage haha)
