Summer is coming to an end, which means it’s time to start thinking about Halloween! Luckily, Halloween costumes are among my favorite things to make, so this no-sew Pac-Man costume was the perfect challenge to tackle for my first costume this year! Inspired by the 1980s Pac-Man video game, which is still one of my favorite arcade games, this easy Halloween costume DIY doesn’t need any special tools. I used felt and Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive to decorate a dress with classic Pac-Man shapes, including Pac-Man, the maze of dots and the ghosts, Blinky, Pinky, Inky, and Clyde. Yes, did you know the ghosts had names?!
Thanks to the Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive, you won’t need to break out a sewing machine to make a cute Halloween costume. Once dry, each piece of felt is permanently adhered to the dress, and you don’t have to worry about losing any pieces during your trick-or-treating! Make this Pac-Man costume for kids or adults with any black dress. (A shirt and pants would work too!)

Supplies:
- Black dress (with stretch)
- Yellow, white, pink, red, orange and blue felt
- Scissors
- Pins
- Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive
- Tulip Slick Dimensional Paint, Black
Step 1: Make templates for the Pac-Man, ghosts, dots, and ghost eyes. Draw the shapes on paper and cut them out to use as templates.
Step 2: Pin the paper ghost template to the blue, orange, red and pink felt and cut out the ghost shape. Repeat with each color.
Step 3: Cut out the Pac-Man shape from the yellow felt.
Step 4: Pin the small circle to the white felt and cut out 8 pieces – two per ghost. Set aside.
Step 5: Pin the larger circle to the white felt. Cut out as many as you can to make the maze dots.
Step 6: Prepare the Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive by puncturing the opening and screwing on the precision tip. Then trim the end off to allow the glue to flow.
Step 7: Glue the smallest white dots to the ghosts as eyes on the Pac-Man costume. Set aside.
Step 8: Lay the dress (or shirt) out flat. Apply glue to the back of the Pac-Man cut-out and stick to the approximate middle of the dress.
Step 9: Glue the larger white dots in a line, starting at the mouth of Pac-Man. Continue the lines in other directions to create a maze-like pattern.
Step 10: Interrupt the dots with ghosts, spaced somewhat evenly over the maze.
Step 11: Once satisfied with the design, use the Tulip Dimensional Paint to complete the eyes of the ghosts.
Allow the Pac-Man costume about 24 hours for the glue and paint to dry completely. Then it’s ready to wear for Halloween! It’s sure to be the best Halloween costume DIY at the party!

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your idea. I really liked it but I want to know which glue you are using to stick the pattern, is it durable I mean to say doesn’t it come out of cloth when you wash it. Please help me out in this, I want to try this pattern.

RashiHi Rashi! Glad you liked the project. The glue I used is Aleene’s Super Fabric Adhesive and it is very durable. For best results, I’d recommend hand washing only though.
